Mawile (Mega)

Mega Mawile is a Steel and Fairy type Mega Raid boss. It becomes available during a dedicated raid day event on 12th October 2024, with increased shiny odds!

Best Mega Mawile raid counters include powerful Fire and Ground types, with a mixed range of different counters available to help you defeat it.

We would recommend a minimum of 3 trainers with ideal maxed out counters and Mega Pokémon. Otherwise we would recommend 5-7 trainers to deal with Mega Mawile’s defence, and more if you don’t have optimal teams. This guide will tell you how to beat this deceptive Mega, as well as it’s optimal stats, moves and CP range.

How to Get Mega Mawile

You cannot catch Mawile in it’s mega evolved form from the raid. The mega raid boss is always catchable in its base form and as such, the CP ranges are for a regular Mawile.

Mawile can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 1290 – 1360 CP no weather boost

  • 1613 – 1700 CP boosted by Windy and Cloudy weather boost

In order to get Mega Mawile you will need 200 Mega Energy for the initial evolution, then 40 Mega Energy to evolve the same Mawile again in the future. If you wait for their ‘cooldown’ period to end, Mega Evolution is free. This cooldown period is shorter the higher mega level your Mega Pokémon is. Mega Energy can be obtained via Mega Mawile Raids, and once you have evolved Mega Mawile, you can earn 5 Mega Energy per candy while walking it as your buddy.

Shiny Mawile

Like all Mega Raid Bosses, you can catch the shiny version of Mawile from a raid.

Conclusion

Mega Mawile is going to be nice to have in your Mega dex, but that’s about it. It unfortunately doesn’t do well as a raid attacker, and is ineligible for most PvP formats with the exception of Master Mega League, where it is quickly decimated by the numerous Ground and Fire types that call that league home. Unfortunately, despite having two giant jaws on it’s head, Mega Mawile is all bark and no bite.
