How to get Scatterbugs in Pokémon GO?

A Postcard advances on a single Vivillon region or sub-medal when it is pinned. You will receive a Scatterbug encounter the first time you pin three from the same zone. Check the region’s medal in your Vivillon Collector medal to begin the encounter.

Gathering three postcards from a location connected to the Vivillon patterns is necessary for the first sub-medal. Trainers can continue to advance toward a sub-medal after finishing it to gain further encounters with Scatterbug. Every rank raises the quantity of Postcards needed to advance the sub-medal rank.

The current requirements for each sub-medal are as follows:

  • 3 pinned Postcards for the first encounter,
  • 9 pinned Postcards for the second encounter,
  • 15 pinned Postcards for the third encounter,
  • and 15 pinned Postcards for every additional encounter

Also note that you can only pin up to three of your own Postcards per day to make progress towards the medal. You will need help from friends if you want to make more progress in a day.
