Tips and Tricks

Keep a Stash of Berries

Always have some berries ready for tasks that require them.

Utilize Gyms in Your Area

Try to have gyms nearby for the occasional gym battle tasks. A friend on a different team can be helpful when needed.

Super Effective Charged Attack Tips

For the “super effective charged attack” task, battle team leaders (found at the bottom of the GBL tab). A good match-up is a Water-type against Great League Candela, but use what works quickly for you. You can also combine this task with a gym battle for efficiency!

Save Your Gifts and Stickers

Hold onto all your gifts and stickers until event day—don’t send them early!

Stack Difficult Tasks Together

Try to group gift-related or other tricky tasks together to save on resources. Sending 3 gifts to complete 2-3 research tasks is more efficient than using 9 gifts for the same number of tasks. This is especially helpful if you’re low on gifts or friends. Same applies to buddy hearts.

Have 1 km Buddies Ready

Keep a pool of 1 km buddies to quickly earn candy (1 km or 500 m if excited, though it’s still slower than other tasks). You can pre-walk your buddy if you’re prepping in advance. Remember, you can swap buddies up to 20 times a day.

Managing “Earn Hearts” Tasks

If you have many “earn 3 hearts” tasks, you can swap to another 1 km buddy. However, note that you’ll lose excitement and 500 m candy progress if you had it. Using Poffins can be helpful if you’re going all out.

Power-Up List

Make a list of Pokémon you want to power up, whether for your teams or just to complete power-up tasks.

Don’t Catch Pokémon Unnecessarily

Avoid catching Pokémon unless required for a task. This way, you’ll spend less time searching for new spawns. Berry-related tasks don’t require catching Pokémon.

Shiny Research Tip

The shiny rate for research encounters isn’t determined until you claim the rewards, so make sure to finish everything before 5 pm!
Paid Timed Research

For US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. This Timed Research will challenge you to complete Field Research tasks to encounter more of the featured Pokémon:

  • Substitute

  • Yamask (Galarian)

Pokémon that appear during this Timed Research will have the same chance of appearing as Shiny Pokémon as those that can be encountered through Field Research during the event.

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. local time.

Depending on your levels and counters, we would recommend 3-5 trainers who are high level, and more if you don’t have optimal teams. This guide will tell you how to beat this steely Mega, as well as its optimal stats, moves, and CP range.

How to Get Mega Aggron

You cannot catch Aggron in its mega evolved form from the raid. The mega raid boss is always catchable in its base form, and as such, the CP ranges are for a regular Aggron. Aggron can be caught with the following CP values:

  • 1636 – 1714 CP at Level 20, no weather boost
  • 2045 – 2143 CP at Level 25, boosted by Snow weather boost

In order to get Mega Aggron, you will need 200 Mega Energy for the initial evolution, then 40 Mega Energy to evolve the same Aggron again in the future. If you wait for their ‘cooldown’ period to end, Mega Evolution is free. This cooldown period is shorter the higher the Mega level your Mega Pokémon is.

Mega Energy can be obtained via Mega Aggron Raids, and once you have evolved Mega Aggron, you can earn 5 Mega Energy per candy while walking it as your buddy. You can walk any Aron, Lairon, or Aggron to earn Mega Energy, as long as you have previously evolved one to register it to your Mega Pokédex.
